LG appliance repair in Miami: French-door refrigerators, ice makers and ranges
LG refrigerators and ranges turn up in every kind of Miami kitchen, from rental condos to family houses. Refrigerators and their ice makers come first in our LG work, then ranges, cooktops and wall ovens. Appliance Repair Doctors is an independent repair company, not affiliated with LG Electronics.

Which LG models we work on
French-door refrigerators, including InstaView and Door-in-Door versions and models with Craft Ice, plus side-by-side, top-freezer and bottom-freezer units. On the cooking side, gas, electric and induction ranges, wall ovens and cooktops.
LG usually prints the model number on a sticker on a side wall of the fresh-food section, and on ranges on the frame behind the oven door or drawer.

Cooling problems and the linear compressor
Many LG refrigerators run on a linear compressor, which drives its piston with a linear motor instead of a crank and changes speed with the load. When one of these refrigerators warms up, the compressor is only one suspect among several.
The usual causes come first: an evaporator iced over by a failed defrost, a fan that has stopped, a temperature sensor reading wrong or the main control board. A compressor fault is confirmed with measurements, and if the sealed system is involved, the repair is done by EPA 608 certified technicians.
Some LG models carry a longer warranty on the compressor than on the rest of the refrigerator, so read the warranty paperwork before a compressor repair.
Error codes on the display
When an LG refrigerator detects a fault, the display shows Er followed by a code. Common ones: Er FF for the freezer fan, Er CF for the condenser fan and Er IF for the ice maker fan, with other codes pointing to defrost or temperature sensors. The owner's guide for your model lists what each code means.
A fan code often follows ice blocking the fan blade, which points back to defrost. Write the code down exactly, and if your model supports Smart Diagnosis in the LG ThinQ app, pass the result on when you book.
What it is doing, and what that usually means
Er FF, Er IF or another fan code
Usually ice on the fan blade from a defrost fault, or a fan motor that has failed.
Fresh-food side warm, freezer cold
Usually airflow from the freezer: an iced-over evaporator, a stopped fan or a sensor reading wrong.
Ice buildup in the door ice compartment
Warm air getting in past a seal or the chute door, an ice fan fault, or a defrost problem.
Water dripping from the dispenser
Frost thawing in the ice compartment, or a leak at the inlet valve or the tubing.
Refrigerator warm, no compressor hum
The main board, a sensor reading wrong or the compressor itself, each tested before any part is ordered.
Ice buildup on LG French-door models
Many LG French-door models keep the ice maker in a compartment in the left fresh-food door, with a small fan bringing cold air up from the freezer. Frost and ice building up in that compartment is the classic complaint: the ice maker stops, cubes fuse in the bin, and water may drip from the dispenser.
The causes run from a worn compartment seal or an ice chute door that doesn't close, to the ice fan, a defrost fault or a fill tube that freezes. An overdue water filter slows any of them, so change it on schedule before suspecting a part.
LG ranges, cooktops and wall ovens
Many LG electric ranges hide the bake element under the oven floor, so a failed one can't be seen and is tested with a meter. On gas models, an oven that won't light usually has a weak igniter. Convection fans, temperature sensors, door locks and touch controls round out the list.
On gas models we repair the appliance itself: burners, igniters, spark modules, the appliance's own burner and oven valves, and controls. We do not repair the gas supply line, the piping or the shutoff valve. That is work for a gas line contractor or your gas utility.
If you smell gas, do not touch the knobs or any switch. Get everyone outside, then call your gas utility or 911.
