The ice maker line and the old saddle valve
In many houses here, built from the 1970s onward, the water line to the refrigerator's ice maker was tapped into a cold-water pipe with a saddle valve, a clamp that pierces the pipe. Saddle valves tend to clog and weep over the years, and they are a frequent cause of slow ice and a slow dispenser.
On the refrigerator itself, we fix the inlet valve, the water tubing inside the cabinet, the filter housing and the ice maker. Replacing a saddle valve with a proper shutoff valve is plumbing work, and worth doing the next time the refrigerator is pulled out.
Townhouses, HOAs and gates
Many West Kendall communities have an HOA and a gate or a guard booth. Put the technician on the guest list or in the gate app, or describe the gate procedure when you book, so the visit starts at your door rather than at the entrance.
