Guests use appliances hard and rarely mention what broke. A quick check at each turnover catches problems while they are still small.
- Read the refrigerator and freezer thermometers: 40°F or below, and 0°F.
- Empty and wipe the ice bin, and make sure the ice maker is actually making ice.
- Look at the door gaskets for tears and the cooktop glass for cracks.
- Run the oven and each cooktop zone for a minute, and check that the oven door unlocks after any self-clean.
