Cooktop and rangetop repair in Miami: gas, electric and induction

A cooktop gets used more than any other appliance in the kitchen, and one dead burner or zone turns every meal into juggling. We repair gas, radiant electric and induction cooktops and pro-style rangetops in Miami homes and condos.

Cooktop, rangetop or range

A cooktop drops into a cutout in the counter, with knobs or a touch strip on top. A rangetop also sits in the counter, but its knobs face forward on a front panel. A range adds an oven underneath, and that side has its own page.

When you book, say which one you have and whether it runs on gas, radiant elements, exposed coils or induction.

Gas burners that click, won't light or burn badly

Each gas burner lights from an electrode beside the burner head: turning the knob closes a switch, and a spark module fires the electrode until the gas catches. A burner that clicks but never lights usually has a wet or clogged head, a cap sitting off-center or a cracked electrode.

Clicking that goes on after the flame is lit, or with every knob off, usually means moisture in a switch, a worn switch or a failing spark module.

A healthy flame is mostly blue and sits close to the ports. Tall yellow flames or soot on the pans mean the gas is not burning cleanly, often from a dirty or damaged burner. Turn that burner off and have it checked.

Gas: we repair the cooktop, not the line

On a gas cooktop or rangetop we repair the appliance itself: burner heads and caps, electrodes, spark modules and switches, burner valves and controls.

We do not repair the gas supply line, the piping or the shutoff valve. That is work for a gas line contractor or your gas utility.

If you smell gas, stop using the cooktop and leave every switch alone. Get out of the house and call your gas utility or 911 from outside.

What it is doing, and what that usually means

Burner clicks but won't light

A wet or clogged burner head, a cap out of place or a cracked electrode. Let a wet burner dry fully before trying again.

Clicking with every knob off

Moisture in a spark switch, a worn switch or a shorted spark module.

Radiant zone stays cold

A burned-out element, the infinite switch behind its knob, or a relay on the control board.

Induction zone shows an error

Try the pan with a magnet first. After that, the cooling fan, a temperature sensor or the power board.

Radiant glass tops and coil elements

A radiant cooktop hides its elements under ceramic glass. A zone that stays cold usually has a burned-out element, a failed infinite switch or, on touch models, a relay on the control board.

A crack in the glass is a reason to stop cooking and turn the cooktop off at the breaker, because spills can run through the crack onto live parts. The glass is not patched; it is replaced, on many models together with its frame.

Induction: the pan, the fan and the power board

Induction heats the pan itself through a magnetic field, so the glass only gets hot from the pan sitting on it. If a zone ignores a pan, hold a fridge magnet to the base: it has to grip firmly.

The electronics under the glass are cooled by a fan that pulls air through vents in the cabinet. Blocked vents, a drawer packed tight right below, or a fan that has stopped lead to overheat errors and zones that cut out mid-cook. Faults that keep returning after a storm usually point to the power board.

Condo kitchens, islands and our work

Many Miami condo towers are all-electric, so radiant and induction tops are standard there, often above a wall oven. In houses, a 36-inch gas cooktop on an island or a rangetop under a hood is common in remodeled kitchens. Brands we repair include Wolf, Thermador, Viking, Miele, Bosch and BlueStar, along with GE, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Samsung and LG.

Appliance Repair Doctors is independent and family-owned, with 15+ years of repair experience and no affiliation with any manufacturer. Technicians are background-checked, parts are genuine OEM, our work is insured, and repairs carry a workmanship warranty of up to 6 months.

Common questions

Asked about cooktop repair

Can a cracked glass cooktop be repaired?
The glass is replaced, often as one part with the frame. Until then, keep the cooktop off at the breaker: liquid can reach live parts through a crack.
My induction cooktop buzzes. Is something wrong?
A light hum at high power is normal with some cookware. A rattle or grind from below the glass is more likely the cooling fan.
Why does my electric cooktop trip the breaker?
Electric cooktops run on a dedicated 240-volt circuit. A shorted element or switch can trip it, and so can a fault in the circuit; the technician tests the cooktop, and wiring is for an electrician.
Do you repair rangetops and pro-style gas cooktops?
Yes, as well as standard drop-in gas, radiant and induction models.
