Kitchen appliances in a South Florida home

Premium does not always mean built in

Plenty of Coral Springs kitchens were remodeled around freestanding premium appliances rather than built-ins: a pro-style range from Thermador, Wolf, Viking or Bertazzoni, a counter-depth refrigerator from Fisher & Paykel or Liebherr, a freestanding wine cooler.

These sit in standard openings, so they can usually be pulled forward for service. Floors are protected while they move, and on a range, the anti-tip bracket is released before it comes out and engaged again after.

On a gas range we repair the appliance itself. We do not repair the gas supply line, the piping or the shutoff valve. That is work for a gas line contractor or your gas utility. If you smell gas, leave every switch alone, get outside and call your gas utility or 911.

When the door doesn't quite close

In a house with children, the refrigerator door is opened constantly and not always closed. A door left ajar lets humid air in, and the signs are distinctive: frost on the freezer walls and the food, sweating along the door edge, a compressor that never stops, and a fresh-food side that drifts warm.

Heavy bottles in the door bins, a drawer not pushed fully in or a sagging door keep a door from sealing. If the door alarm has been switched off, turn it back on: it is the simplest early warning in the kitchen.

Once the door seals again, a freezer full of frost may still need a manual defrost, or a repair if the defrost system itself has failed.

Typical Coral Springs kitchens

French-door or column refrigeration, a pro-style range or a separate wall oven and cooktop, and in remodeled kitchens a wine cooler and an undercounter ice maker.

Brands we repair here include Sub-Zero, Thermador, Wolf, Viking, Monogram, Miele, Fisher & Paykel, Liebherr and Bertazzoni.

Before the visit

A few things help the visit along.

  • Photograph the rating label so the model and serial number are on hand.
  • Note any code on the display and when the problem started, especially if it was after a storm or an outage.
  • Keep pets in another room while the technician works; an appliance pulled forward leaves an open space behind it.
  • For a refrigerator that is warming, keep the doors closed and move the most perishable food to a cooler.

Common questions

Asked about Coral Springs

Do you repair everyday brands in Coral Springs?
Here our work is built-in and premium appliances, freestanding premium models included. If you are not sure where yours falls, send the brand and model.
Do you also cover Parkland?
Yes, for built-in and premium appliances. Parkland has its own page.
Why is there frost on everything in my freezer?
Usually a door that isn't sealing: an overloaded bin, a drawer not fully closed or a worn gasket. If the door seals and the frost keeps returning, the defrost system needs a check.
Is a pro-style range worth repairing?
Usually. Igniters, burners, elements, sensors and door hinges are replaceable on these ranges, and they are built to be serviced.
